Tara is one of the five protagonists of the Brazilian comic book series W.i.t.c.h. (or W.I.T.C.H., as it is commonly known). She is the member of the group who controls the power of water, one of the five classical elements that form the basis of the Witches' superpowers.
Tara's primary superpower is hydrokinesis - the ability to manipulate the flow, form, and properties of water. This allows her to:
Tara frequently uses these abilities both offensively, overwhelming enemies with powerful water attacks, and defensively, shielding her team with barriers or cushioning their falls. Her water powers make her a valuable asset in aquatic environments and allow her to support her teammates' elemental abilities.
Unlike some of her more assertive teammates, Tara possesses a thoughtful, introspective personality. She is often the voice of reason within the W.I.T.C.H. group, tempering the idealism and impulsiveness of the others. Tara struggles at times to fully embrace the extent of her powers and her role as a "Witch" fighting for social revolution.
However, when pushed, Tara demonstrates remarkable courage and determination. She is not afraid to use her formidable hydrokinetic abilities to protect her teammates and confront the authoritarian forces they oppose. Tara's water powers and calming presence make her a stabilizing, centering influence within the team.
Throughout the W.I.T.C.H. comic's run, Tara plays a pivotal role in many of the group's key missions and confrontations with the military dictatorship. Some notable storylines include:
In these and other adventures, Tara's resourceful and principled approach makes her an integral part of the Witches' fight for freedom and social justice in their fictionalized 1960s Brazil.
