Will Vandom is the courageous and determined leader of the Guardians of the Veil, a team of supernaturally-powered young women dedicated to protecting the barrier between Earth and the magical parallel realm of Meridian. As the Guardian of Quintessence, Will possesses the ability to generate and manipulate electrical and life energy, making her the most powerful member of the Guardians.
Will was born in the magical realm of Basiliade, but was brought to Earth as a baby by her guardian Yan Lin to escape a dark fate. Raised unaware of her supernatural heritage, Will lived an ordinary life in the city of Heatherfield until she was recruited by Yan Lin to become the new Guardian of Quintessence.
Yan Lin revealed to Will that she was chosen to lead the Guardians in their ongoing struggle against the tyrannical Prince Phobos of Meridian, who had seized control of his home realm through treachery and dark magic.
